In the past, the ‘Entracte’ in the middle of theatrical performances were linked to the passage of time. This interlude was used to replace the candles that had burnt out during the play; the length of the acts and the duration of the show were then punctuated by these light sources. The Entracte lamp is inspired by this experience, using light as a means of measuring and recording time. Just as a candle burns down, letting its flame descend before our eyes, Entracte reveals the passing time around us, highlighting the present moment.
